While The Federal Fair Packaging and Labeling Act of 1973 have forced cosmetic companies to actually list out the ingredients in their products, fragrance is not included in that law. Consumers are bound to be unknowingly using products not even knowing what’s actually in them.

Many of the chemicals found in these products have been linked back to hormone disruption. And the hormone disruptors in these toxic ingredients effect not only the person who personally use the products. These hormone disruptors can be passed down to the third and fourth generations. Our choices are not just effecting us individually. They are effecting our children's children's children's children.

Taking control over the fragrances, and fragrance filled items that come into your home is easier than you think! It seems like essential oils are popping up in every store, and many are advertised as being 100% pure or organic. But they also have severe warnings, which should make us step back and wonder how pure they truly are.

Ordering a CSA box, or shopping at your local farmer's market allows you to know who grows your vegetables or raises the chickens that lay the eggs you eat. And I truly believe that it's important to know who grows the plants that make your oils.
